PP Perbasi Is Threatened With Being Sued For IDR 10 Billion For Revocation Of Tournament Recommendations In The Middle Of The Road
JAKARTA - The Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) is in danger of being sued for IDR 10 billion for revoking recommendations for tournaments in the middle of the road.
The threat was made by PT Kuy Digital Indonesia as the organizer of the Java International Basketball Tournament Tournament Tournament (GJIBT) which took place on July 1, 2024.
Perbasi is known to have revoked and canceled the recommendation letter when the GJIBT tournament was still ongoing.
In fact, GJIBT has acted according to the rules. They received a recommendation from the Depok Perbasi City Government on April 21, 2024, and a recommendation from the West Java Perbasi Provincial Government on April 23, 2024. After that, the organizer sent a letter to PP Perbasi asking for an application for implementation on April 26, 2024.

The letter was then replied to by PP Perbasi on May 8, 2024, which stated that the GJIBT could be implemented. Departing from the PP Perbasi statement, GJIBT sent a letter requesting the referee to the West Java Perbasi Pengprov Management on June 6, 2024.
"Unfortunately, until 9 pm on June 30, 2024, we as the organizing committee have not received a reply from the West Java Perbasi Pengprov. Until July 1, 2024, the Perbasi equipment is not ready to lead the match," said PT Kuy Digital Indonesia Chief Operations Officer, Suri Agung Prabowo.
"Only on July 1, 2024, around 02.00 WIB (early today), we received an email letter from PP Perbasi with letter No. 640/PP/VI/2024 dated June 30, 2024 related to the assignment of the GJIBT 2024 match device."
"The number of referees is 17 referees, two match supervisors, and one committee referee coordinator."
"However, only six referees came and at 07.40 WIB, when the event was about to start, they didn't want to lead the match because they had not received a written assignment letter."
"The referees were only told verbally. Finally, to avoid the anger of the participants and the schedule that was arranged long ago, the first game was led by a non-Perbasi referee while waiting for a written assignment letter from PP Perbasi."
"However, for the second game and the next day until July 4, 2024, we used the referee from PP Perbasi," said Suri Agung again.
After everything went smoothly, suddenly on July 4, 2024 at 08.30 WIB, PP Perbasi issued a letter of revocation and cancellation of recommendations for the tournament.
In the same letter, it also states the withdrawal of the match equipment and asks the Pengkab/Pengkot/Pengprov/Akademi club to participate in this event not to continue its participation.
In fact, there are also teams from abroad who are also affected by the impact.
For the PP Perbasi action, GIJBT suffered losses not only material, but also imateriel. Moreover, this tournament was attended not only by local clubs, but also internationally.
A total of 77 teams with a total of 166 games. Meanwhile, the international teams participating included Yi Impacts Guam USA who sent four teams, namely the men's teams U-16 and U-18 as well as the women's teams U-14 and U-16.
The PYD phillipines that deployed three teams, namely the men's teams U-11, U-12, and U-14. Then, the Malaysian LCM dispatched the U-12 men's team and finally the Thai FYB sent the U-16 women's team.
Therefore, PT Kuy Digital Indonesia as the organizer of the GIJBT tournament took the matter to court.
They consider that PP Perbasi's action to stop the match on the fourth day is an act beyond the limit.
"This caused material and immaterial losses for us. We have appointed a lawyer to file a lawsuit in court and apologize to all participants for not being able to continue the tournament," said Suri Agung.
