Basarnas Evacuation Of Foreigners From Syria Due To Chemical Toxics
The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) team evacuated a foreign national (WNA) from Syria who is also a crew member with the Barbados flag due to chemical poisoning.
Head of Banda Aceh Basarnas Ibnu Harris Al Hussain in Banda Aceh, Saturday, said the victim was Mustofa Hamoud (33). The victim is a member of the cargo ship DSM Everton.
"The victim was evacuated because he was taken by chemicals. The evacuation used the KN Kresna SAR ship in the waters of the Bengal Strait, Aceh Province, on Saturday (6/7)," said Ibnu Harris.
He said the SAR operation against foreigners began with a report by a ship agent in Aceh who said that there were crew members (ABK) of the Everton DSM who were swallowed by chemicals while on a voyage in the waters of the Malacca Strait.

"At that time, the cargo ship DSM Everton sailed from Saint Petersburg in Russia to Gresik, East Java. At that time, the victim was thirsty, but was taken with chemical liquid," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
Furthermore, the ship's agent requested medical evacuation because the victim needed further medical treatment. The request was followed up by sending a joint SAR team to evacuate the victim.
The evacuation used the KN Kresna SAR ship by involving the Port Quarantine Office team, Customs and Excise, the Police, and other related parties. The evacuation point is 7.12 nautical miles from Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh City.
After successfully deploying the victim, the SAR team took him using KN Kresna to Ulee Lheue Harbor and then took him by ambulance to the Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Banda Aceh.
"With the completion of the evacuation of foreigners, the SAR operation was closed and all personnel involved were returned to their respective units or agencies," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
