Denies Framing In SYL Case, KPK: We Work According To Evidence

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it has worked according to the evidence it has in investigating the alleged extortion of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in response to the pledoi read out by Syahrul at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday, July 5. One of the points conveyed by the former minister was that he felt that he had been a victim of negative framing since the beginning of the case that ensnared him.

"Regarding the framing problem conveyed by the defendant SYL, the KPK only works within the legal framework based on the adequacy of evidence," said Tessa when confirmed by VOI, Saturday, July 6.

Even so, Tessa said that what Syahrul said in the pledoi was his right as a suspect. He may present his defense before the panel of judges.

"It is the defendant's right to convey everything in his pledoi," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

"But, ed) we are sure that based on the indictment submitted by the KPK prosecutor, the panel of judges will give the best decision based on the facts that emerged at the trial," continued Tessa.

As previously reported, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who is a defendant in the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), claimed to be a victim of negative framing. He claimed to have heard the information.

"I heard information that there was a formation of framing, opinions that led to insults, insults, ridicule and tremendous pressure from certain parties on me and my family," he said in a plea or memorandum of defense he read at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Friday, July 5.

He said the framing had even emerged since KPK investigators scheduled an examination of him. At that time, there was a negative opinion stating that he had disappeared and fled.

In fact, said Syahrul, he was carrying out his duties abroad at that time. The allegation was then deemed to have exceeded the validity limit of the Indonesian people because it led to fake news or hoaxes.

"This almost made me desperate considering that I have intended to work to provide the best service to the nation and state in all Indonesian people," he said.

He also called this framing a verdict that preceded the judge's decision because it seemed to ignore the principle of presumption of innocence. He also accused this assumption of being systematically produced.

The proof is that there are many false accusations that consider themselves to be greedy and greedy people. "I believe this (framing) is assembled to influence the public and kill my character and may also intend to influence the panel of judges in deciding this case," said Syahrul.
