No Sorry For Hasyim Asy'ari's Immoral Case, KPU: Violation Of Personal Issue Code Of Ethics
Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) August Mellaz revealed the reason his agency did not apologize for the immoral case committed by Hasyim Asy'ari while still serving as Chairman of the KPU.
Mellaz emphasized that the case that made Hasyim fired by the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) was a personal matter and did not drag the KPU as an election organizer.
"What is clear is that if cases of violation of the code of ethics and behavior of election organizers are personal issues. Yes, how, right? We don't want to comment on what kind of thing. The verdict has come out, so we respect it there," said Mellaz at the KPU RI Office, Central Jakarta, Friday, July 5th.
Despite the assumption that the Hasyim case tarnished the good name of the KPU, Mellaz emphasized that his party had taken steps so that electoral work would continue.
To fill the temporary vacancy, the KPU has appointed Mochammad Afifuddin to be the Acting Chairman (Plt) of the KPU until the definitive chairman is appointed.
"We have carried out the mechanism. We have taken an agreement to give Mas Afifuddin a mandate to carry out his duties. Of course with all the dynamics we face, we must fulfill our obligations to the law," Mellaz explained.
It is known that the DKPP imposed a permanent dismissal sanction on Hasyim Asy'ari as the chairman and a member of the KPU, related to the alleged immoral case against members of the The Hague Foreign Election Committee (PPLN), the Netherlands, with the initials CAT.
Reports of alleged violations of the election organizers' code of ethics (KEPP) against Hasyim were initially filed by the Legal Aid Consultation Institute and the Choice of Completion of Disputes at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-PPS FH UI) and the Legal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Women's Association for Justice (LBH APIK), as the victim's attorney, on Thursday 18 April 2024.
The victim's attorney assessed that the actions of the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, as a defendant, were included in the violation of the code of ethics based on DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for General Election Organizers.
Hasyim Asy'ari's ethics trial at the DKPP revealed a number of facts of violations in the form of acts of sexual harassment or immorality.
In the facts of the trial, DKPP member Ratna Dewi Pettalolo revealed that the defendant (Hasyim) violated the principle of proportionality and professionalism, forcing sexual relations with complainants.
