Time To Hunt Select To Show On Netflix Because Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - The South Korean action thriller, Time to Hunt, will be released on Netflix after it cancels in theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic or the corona virus. Previously, the film was scheduled to air on February 26 in South Korea.

Time to Hunt has been sold to 30 international distributors through Contents Panda. However, because the film production house, Little Big Pictures, did not have an exact date for the cinema, they chose digital services as the final option.

The large number of cinemas closed in South Korea has resulted in some films being low-grossing, and Time to Hunt wants to avoid that. Luckily, Netflix is open to this offer and hopes this decision will work for viewers.

Time to Hunt tells the story of Joon Seok (Lee Je Hoon) who wants to leave town and start a new life. Because of this, he devised a criminal plan with his three friends; Ki Hoon (Choi Woo Shik), Jang Ho (Ahn Jae Hong), and Sang Soo (Park Jung Min).

The film is directed by Yoon Sung Hyun, who previously worked on Drink and Confess, Banana Shake, and Bleak Night - which brought him together with actors Lee Je Hoon and Park Jung Min.

Previously, Time to Hunt premiered at the Berlin Film Festival on February 22. The positive response received has made this film even more stable to air in South Korea. However, they could not wait any longer because all theaters in Korea were closed due to the corona pandemic.

In his official statement, Contents Panda said that this issue could become an international dispute because it ignores the rights guaranteed by global film companies. Instead Little Big Pictures has tried to cooperate but they refuse to compromise and decide to inform one-sidedly about the expiring contract.

Time to Hunt is the first South Korean film to cancel in theaters. Previously, this step was taken by Universal Pictures, which digitally released a number of their films, namely Trolls World Tour, The Invisible Man, The Hunt, and Emma.

In South Korea, cases of the corona virus have reached 8,961 cases with 3,166 declared cured and 111 deaths. Meanwhile, Time to Hunt will be released worldwide exclusively via Netflix on April 10 with translations in 29 languages.
