Eyes Covered By Black Cloth, 22 Suspected Terrorists Moved From East Java To Jakarta
SURABAYA - The Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror Team at the Police Headquarters transferred 22 suspected terrorists from Surabaya, East Java to Jakarta. The terrorist suspects were arrested by Densus 88 in a number of areas in East Java.
East Java Deputy Police Chief, Brigadier General Slamet Hadi Supraptoyo, said 22 suspected terrorists had been entrusted by the Densus 88 Team at the East Java Regional Police detention center since February 26. Now, they are dispatched to the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta to undergo further legal proceedings.
"Today 22 suspected terrorists were dispatched from the detention center of the East Java Regional Police to the National Police Headquarters. They were dispatched to Juanda Airport using two buses under heavy guard from Densus 88," said Slamet, Thursday, March 18.
The 22 suspected terrorists were arrested by the Densus 88 Team at the National Police Headquarters, in several areas in East Java including Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Bojonegoro and Malang. From the results of the interrogations carried out on suspected terrorists, that they were included in the forbidden network, namely, Jemaah Islamiah (JI).
"They were arrested in five districts / cities in the East Java region. After interrogation, they found out that they were part of a forbidden network (Jemaah Islamiah)," he said.
According to Slamet, the 22 suspected terrorists have been in East Java for the last five years. While in the East Java region, they carried out activities by recruiting new members, and it is known that they have recruited as many as 50 new members.
"They have been in East Java for five years, from their activities they are known to have recruited 50 new members," he said.
After the arrest of 22 suspected terrorists, the National Police will continue to monitor the locations that have become points of arrest for suspected terrorists. However, in other locations, monitoring will also be carried out.
The following are the names (initials) of 22 suspected terrorists who were arrested by the Densus 88 Team at the Police Headquarters in several areas of East Java. They each have the initials FA, FU, NA, SS, AY, TS, YA, RZ, BR, YP, EP, YT, AI, AS, RA, ZA, ME, IE, HS, AR, BS and HAB.
