KPU Issues Elected Candidate Regulations For The Elected Pilkada Must Resign
The KPU has officially regulated that candidates for legislative members (caleg) elected in the 2024 General Election that will run in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada must resign from their status as elected candidates.
This is contained in Article 32 of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 8 of 2024 concerning the Candidacy of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors. The PKPU was officially promulgated today, Tuesday, July 2.
"Prospective candidates who are elected candidates as members of the DPR or DPRD but have not been inaugurated as referred to in Article 14 paragraph (4) letter d, must submit a notification letter from the political party participating in the election regarding the resignation of themselves as candidates for elected members of the DPR or DPRD during the registration of candidate pairs," as quoted from the attachment to Article 32 paragraph (1) PKPU Number 8 of 2024 quoted by ANTARA.
"Prospective candidates who are candidates for DPD members but have not been inaugurated as referred to in Article 14 paragraph (4) letter d, must submit a letter of resignation as a candidate for election for DPD members who cannot be withdrawn at the time of registration of the candidate pair," continued Article 32 paragraph (2).
The letter of willingness to resign must be submitted when registering as a candidate pair for regional head which is opened from 27 to 29 August 2024.

Then, if the elected candidate will register as a candidate pair for regional head, the legislative candidate must send a letter to the KPU containing his willingness to resign from his elected candidate status.
The resignation letter can be submitted no later than document repair.
"In the event that the notification letter as referred to in paragraph (1) and the resignation letter as referred to in paragraph (2) have not been submitted at the time of registration of the Candidate Pair, it will be submitted no later than when the candidate requirements document is corrected," reads Article 32 paragraph (3)
