Update On COVID-19 As Of March 23: Expectations From Additional PPE

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of the corona virus or COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, said there were an additional 65 positive corona virus patients as of Monday, March 23 at 12.00 WIB. In total, there were 579 positive corona patients. Hundreds of these positive cases are distributed in various provinces in Indonesia.

Furthermore, there was the addition of one patient who was declared cured of the corona virus.

"There are additional cases that have followed up the specimens twice, twice (the results) were negative and we declared that 1 person was healed, so the total number of cases healed was 30 people," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Monday, March 23.

Then, there is also the addition of one case of a patient who died. In total, the death toll was 49 people.

DKI Jakarta is still the province with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. As of today, 356 positive cases have been recorded in all administrative cities.

Then, there were 221 positive case patients who were hospitalized, 22 people were declared cured, 31 people died, and 82 people went into independent isolation.

Today, the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 has distributed around 105 thousand personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, hand sanitizers and other medical devices to be distributed to all hospitals and health facilities in the country.

DKI Jakarta receives around 40 thousand PPE. Then as many as 25 thousand PPE units were flown to Semarang, DI Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Bali.

A total of 25 thousand PPE units were distributed in West Java, Bogor and Banten. Meanwhile, 10 thousand PPE units will be kept as a reserve.

With this additional PPE disbursement, Yuri hopes that the standard needs of health facilities that provide services for COVID-19 patients can be met.

"So that we can carry out more effective care services and we can provide the best for our citizens who are sick with Covid 19," concluded Yuri.
