Lebaran 2021 Homecoming Permitted, Sultan HB X: Yes, Nothing
JAKARTA - The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono (HB) X, does not question the central government's policy of allowing people to travel back and forth for Lebaran in 2021.
"Yes, it's okay. It means if that is what the policy will be like, I don't know exactly. There will definitely be a policy," said Sultan HB X, at the Kepatihan Office Complex, Yogyakarta, Wednesday.
The Sultan admitted that it is not a problem that the Lebaran homecoming is not prohibited as long as the number of holidays with the upcoming Eid holidays can be reduced.
In this way, according to him, the mobility of people who cannot apply the 5M protocol (wearing masks, maintaining distance, washing hands, staying away from crowds, and reducing mobility) can be suppressed.
"If I am more likely to (going home) it is not prohibited, but the number of days for example yesterday (holidays) could be five days to a week, so now you don't have to. Yes, two days or three days of hospitality have been over," he said.
With the number of positive cases of COVID-19 that are still fluctuating, for the Sultan, it is not yet time to develop an attitude like during normal conditions.
Whether they are allowed to go home or not, the Sultan assessed that so far there are not a few residents outside the region who come to Yogyakarta on weekends. It's just that, the number is expected to jump up to three times during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming momentum.
Therefore, according to the Governor of Yogyakarta, one of the efforts that is no less important to be a concern during the Lebaran homecoming momentum is the examination of COVID-19 free letters for migrants who enter regional borders.
Without tightening efforts at the border, according to him, COVID-19 cases have a chance to jump back up.
"Are things like this a concern or not? If you still get free, you might be able to go up again," he said.
However, regarding the possibility of implementing the insulation at the border, he admits that he will still wait for a policy from the central government ahead of the Lebaran homecoming.
"Yes, we will see later, there is no policy from the central government, it is possible to modify it or not," said Sultan HB X as well.
