KPK Reveals State Losses Due To Corruption In Presidential Social Assistance Reaches IDR 250 Billion
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has uncovered allegations of corruption in the procurement of social assistance (bansos) for the president, causing the state to lose up to Rp250 billion. This figure is still not final.
"The potential loss to the state of Banpres is approximately Rp250 billion," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters in a written statement, Monday, July 1.
Tessa said there were three stages of social assistance that were corrupted, causing state losses, namely stage 3, 5, and stage 6. However, this calculation is still not final.
On a different occasion, Tessa said that the corrupted social assistance was shared by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 in a red and white goodiebag bearing the Presidential Palace.
"Regarding the contents of the social assistance, it varies from rice, cooking oil, biscuits, and several other basic necessities," he told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, June 28.
"The procurement value is still under investigation. So we will update it at the next opportunity," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.
Previously reported, the KPK revealed that it was investigating allegations of corruption in the procurement of presidential social assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic which was distributed in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) in 2020. There are already suspects named, namely Ivo Wongkaren who is the President Director of Mitra Energi Persada.
