New York Prosecutor's Office Investigate Case Of Police Shooting Dead Teenager Who Pointed A Replica Pistol
JAKARTA - The New York Prosecutor's Office, United States, conducted an investigation into the police case of shooting a 13-year-old boy who pointed a replica gun at the officer.
The announcement from the New York State Attorney General, Letitia James, was made a day after hundreds of people attended a community warning for the teenage Nyah Mway who was killed on Friday night last week.
Citing the New York state executive law, James said the Special Investigation office, which is part of his office, was tracing any reported incidents related to police officers that may have led to a person's death due to his actions or negligence.
As reported by ABC News, Monday, July 1, the youth shooting came as Utica officers stopped two people as part of an undisclosed police investigation, the Utica Police Department said.
When he stopped, a 13-year-old teenager, identified as Nyah Mway, allegedly fled from the officer who chased him, according to police.
Nyah allegedly pointed an object that looked like a gun at the officer, which caused one of the officers to fire a shot at the teenager, according to investigators.
The teenage shooter is known as Patrick Husnay. The shooting left the boy seriously injured and taken to the mire hospital and pronounced dead.
Police found a 17-gen 5 replica GLOCK pistol with a removable magazine.
