The Joint SAR Team For The Evacuation Of Four Fishermen Victims Of The Overturned Ship On Padar Island

The joint search and rescue (SAR) team evacuated four fishermen who were victims of the ship capsized in the waters of the Lintah Strait, Padar Island, Komodo National Park (TNK) area in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"The fishing boat sank because of the wind and high waves," said Head of the Maumere Basarnas Office Supriyanto Ridwan when contacted by Antara from Labuan Bajo, Sunday.

He explained that the victims were adrift for about an hour in the sea waters due to the fateful incident.

The four victims in the incident were domiciled in Gorontalo Village, Komodo District. The four victims were Aco (37), Irvan (17) Rahman (11) and Rahim (7).

"At around 11.00 WITA the ship they were traveling on sailed from Padar Island to Komodo Island to look for fish, but the strong winds and high waves made their ship tilted and capsized at 12.00 WITA," he said.

Supriyanto explained that after receiving the report, the joint SAR Team used the West Manggarai SAR Post RIB Ship to the scene and on the way the joint SAR Team found the victims had been rescued by the Speed Zea Zaydan Team.

"So, the Speed Sea Zaydan Team has first rescued the four victims who happened to pass at the scene," he explained.

The joint SAR team then evacuated the victims to Labuan Bajo for medical treatment.

"The victims are all healthy, it's just that they still feel cold and weak after being adrift in the sea and to the Speed Zea Zaydan Team, we are very grateful, grateful for their humanitarian spirit to help all victims quickly and safely," he said.
