IKN Has 50 MW PLTS, Erick Thohir: Many Are Pessimistic

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that many parties who are pessimistic about electricity in IKN, East Kalimantan, can use environmentally friendly energy.

However, Erick said, this was refuted because PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN through the subholding of PLN Nusantara Power succeeded in building a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) as a source of electricity in IKN.

"Many are pessimistic that electrical energy in IKN can use environmentally friendly solar energy. Today it is proven, PLN has been able to produce 10 megawatts of solar power plants (PLTS)," Erick wrote as quoted from Instagram @erickthohir, in Jakarta, Sunday, June 30.

Not only that, Erick said PLN will continue to increase its capacity to reach 50 megawatts (MW) for green energy needs at IKN.

"This will be the first city in Indonesia or even in the world to use 100 percent of new and renewable energy," he said.

In addition to electricity, Erick said PLN also supplies 150 KV Insulated Substation Gas (GIS) with a capacity of 2x60 MVA, transmission networks, distribution networks, and nine units of connecting substations and distribution substations.

Erick said the total power requirement for the main venue for the RI Anniversary ceremony was 1.5 MW, and PLN guaranteed the reliability of back up supply in the form of generators and UPS.

"We want PLN, either through PLTS or its substation, to be able to supply electricity, not only for the total power needs for the Independence Anniversary ceremony venue, but also to ensure that the supply of interconnect electricity in Kalimantan is also safe," he explained.
