Bank Mandiri Retail Merchant Non-cash Transactions Translucent IDR 100 Trillion

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. successfully scored a non-cash transaction value at the company's partner retail merchants of IDR 100 trillion throughout 2020.

Bank Mandiri Network and Retail Director Aquarius Rudianto said that the figure was recorded through 160 million transactions that occurred last year.

"We are trying to continue to increase the use of non-cash transactions by the public in order to encourage transaction efficiency and convenience," he said in a statement on Wednesday, March 17.

Rudianto added, virtual optimization of transactions is also intended to support the retail business of Bank Mandiri's partners in order to survive during a pandemic. For information, until the close of the 2020 period, the number of merchants using this virtual service has reached 250,000 outlets.

"We are trying to increase the number of merchants who become partners in expanding access to online transactions in the community along with shifting people's behavior in the new normal era," he said.

The merchants, said Rudianto, came from various economic sectors, such as food and beverage, fashion, groceries, tourism, to supermarkets or department stores.

"Other useful products for merchant partners are account inquiry, direct debit, e-money top up, and bill payment features. In addition, there are services that are connected to the fintech and e-commerce ecosystems," he explained.

He also mentioned that Bank Mandiri is developing artificial intelligence (AI) services that are integrated with mobile banking services with the hope of providing personal offerings that are in accordance with the needs and character of customers in the digital era.

"The various digital banking innovations introduced to merchant partners are part of our commitment to become the main financial partner of choice for the public with the support of reliable digital products and services," he concluded.
