Jokowi's Happy Khofifah Using Madura Batik Opens HMI Congress
SURABAYA - President Joko Widod opened the XXXI Indonesian Student Association (HMI) Congress virtually at the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya.
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa was surprised to see Jokowi wearing Madura batik clothes made by local UMKM products.
"Thank you to the president who was pleased to open the congress, and the people of East Java, especially the people and Madurese UMKM players, were happy to have this because the batik used by the President was Madurese batik," Khofifah said in his remarks, Wednesday, March 17.
The President wore a long-sleeved brown batik with a black trouser suit, a cap and a white mask. At the opening, he was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Pramono Anung, and the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali.
The main agenda of the congress is to elect a general chairman which will be held from March 17, 2021 to March 21, 2021 in three different places in the City of Heroes on the grounds of health protocols.
At the HMI congress, Khofifah hoped that the final goals and results would run according to the theme, namely knitting unity for a sovereign and just Indonesia. Khofifah also advised the congress to always be disciplined in implementing health protocols to avoid transmission of COVID-19.
"Be sure with sincerity and sincerity that all efforts will arrive. We congratulate the success of the HMI Congress, and hopefully it will run smoothly," he said.
President Jokowi in his speech, entrusted a message to HMI cadres, to continue to grow according to the times, and be able to adapt to all updates.
"I also ask HMI to continue to build collaboration on an important national agenda, including in efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic," said Jokowi, at the State Palace in Jakarta via a virtual broadcast.
In addition, Jokowi can also help the government in the midst of difficulties in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jokowi hopes that HMI can help people rise, especially in economic recovery.
"I also invite HMI cadres to build optimism and hope, and help people who are in trouble amid the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
