Update On COVID-19 As Of March 17: 6.825 New Cases, Active Cases Dropped To 131.695

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 75.980 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 6.825 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 1.437.283 people and active cases decreased by 2.347 to 131.695 cases", quoted from the Ministry of Health, Wednesday, March 17.

Recovered cases today increased by 9.010 cases so that a total of 1.266.673 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 162 people and a total of 38.915 people.

The province with the newest cases is in West Java with 1.347 cases and a total of 235.990 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta which has 1.330 new cases with a total of 363.700 cases. Banten has 561 new cases and a total of 33.539 cases. Then, Central Java has 647 new cases and a total of 162.802 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to West Java with an increase of 4.150 cases recovered. Followed by DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1.124 recovered cases, Banten with an additional 790 recovered cases, and Central Java with an increase of 748 recovered cases.

No province reported having zero cases as of today. Provinces reporting new cases under 10 are North Sulawesi, North Maluku, Aceh, Maluku and West Sulawesi.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 11.795.460.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or the positivity rate today amounted to 20.77 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 59.610 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

Furthermore, currently, there are 4.705.248 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 1.876.140 vaccines for the second dose. Meanwhile, the total vaccination targets reached 40.349.051 people.
