Kominfo Reveals Online Gambling Problems Will Not Be Completed, Here's Why!

JAKARTA - Director of Information Application Control from the Directorate General of Aptika, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Teguh Arifiyadi said that online gambling cases in Indonesia would never be completed.

Because according to him, if it only works downstream, while in the upstream it is like the city is still there, and there are still many operators, as well as their unlimited resources.

"Because it's back again, that we're playing downstream. If it's still not done, then the city is still there, then there's still a lot of operators, it's never finished. Even until the end it won't be finished," Teguh told the media at the Ngopi Bareng Kominfo event on Friday, June 28.

"We want to be blamed every day is natural," he added.

However, the government through several relevant Ministries/Institutions is still trying to regulate and eradicate online gambling through the establishment of a Task Force (Satgas), blocking accounts, and also blocking sites.

"But this has been seen, PPATK has reported that Rp68 trillion in online gambling money has been deposited, Rp350 trillion in annual transactions, even now approaching Rp600 trillion in annual transactions, how many dealers have been detected," he said.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also reported several e-wallet accounts used for online gambling transactions to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) through BI to be immediately blocked.

Teguh himself admitted that the growth of online gambling sites they encounter in his system is predicted to be more than 10,000. "We are also pursuing capacity to be able to verify more," he said.

Recently, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi has also asked all Telecommunication Service Providers for Internet Access Gate Service or Network Access Point (NAP) to cut off internet communication access allegedly used for online gambling.
