DPR Urges Government To Form PDN Security Protection Task Force
JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Meutya Hafid, urged the government to form a national task force for securing the security of the National Data Center (PDN) to accelerate the handling of cyber disturbances that occur.
"This is related to how the government responds quickly, that's what we need. Earlier, we concluded that one of the suggestions we asked for is that the government immediately prepare a task force," he said after a working meeting of Commission I of the DPR with the Minister of Communication and Information and the Head of BSSN at the parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Thursday 27 June.
The need to form the task force is because there is no alignment between government agencies in taking action to deal with cyber problems.
"Earlier, what we saw was that there was no integration in the implementation of solving the problem," he said.
Furthermore, Meutya said that this task force will also be prepared to deal with national cybersecurity issues in the future. He said this issue was not only related to technical matters but rather strategic issues that had a broad impact, especially on state sovereignty and security.
Functions and tasks of the task force, namely updating the software system regularly, adopting the latest cybersecurity technology, implementing a layered proactive approach in improving cybersecurity systems, and conducting continuous cybersecurity evaluations.
In addition, Meutya said the government needs to provide an integrated crisis center whose function is as a help center (help desk) and provide periodic information regarding the handling of public services affected by cyber attacks.

Crisis center is important because the issue of PDN security protection is also related to personal data.
"This is also related to personal data protection, yes. Indeed, it was conveyed that there was no indication of data leakage. However, we still have to warn that the data protection is judged not when it leaks, but when there is a protection failure. We have considered that it is the domain of personal data protection," he said.
