Ministry Of Transportation Encourages Pertamina Shipping To Boost Expansion To LN
JAKRTA - Commemorating World Seafarers' Day, the Ministry of Transportation appreciates the national maritime industry players who have upheld the role of Indonesian sailors.
Including PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), which currently manages 5,300 sailors, both direct and indirect.
PIS also commemorates World Seafarers' Day in 2024 by participating in the World Seafarers' Day Celebration held by the Ministry of Transportation at the Jakarta Shipping Sciences College (STIP).
PIS shows its commitment to maintaining security and ensuring the welfare of sailors in accordance with the theme carried by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), namely "Safety Trips at Sea" and the sub-them "Healthy and Happy Seafarers for Safe Ships".
PIS shows its efforts by demonstrating virtual fire fighting simulations in fleets. With the technology carried, PIS crews can continue to train to improve their ability to create a safe work environment with minimal risk possible.
One form of PIS' support for the welfare of sailors can be seen from the achievement of the zero fatality of the crew and 40.5 million hours of safe work. This achievement is the fruit of the company's transformation and continued business expansion without reducing the welfare aspect of the sailors.
PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi said that a safe work environment and the welfare of the crew is one of the priorities that the company continues to develop.
"We are grateful to the sailors, both at PIS and elsewhere, who have contributed together in advancing the Indonesian maritime industry," he said.
Along with the continued transformation and business expansion, PIS continues to strengthen its fleet and crew.
Operatingly, PIS focuses on rejuvenation, expansion and fleet compliance with regulations.
One form of expansion was carried out by penetrating 50 global routes and opening branch offices in Singapore and Dubai.
This business expansion contributes to PIS' profit achievement throughout 2023 which reached 330 million US dollars, up 60.94 percent from the previous year.
