Wisma Athletes Ready To Become A Hospital To Treat COVID-19 Patients
JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo stated that Wisma Atlet is ready to become an emergency hospital to treat patients with the corona virus or COVID-19. He saw that readiness after seeing the facilities and infrastructure there today. However, for now, only part of the capacity can be used.
"I need to say, this Athlete's House has a capacity of 24 thousand people, which currently has been prepared for 3 thousand patients with a room area that has been arranged with a good management," Jokowi said after visiting the Athlete House in Jakarta, Monday, March 23. .
In this emergency hospital, all placement of medical devices for patients is in accordance with international standards to prevent spread. Likewise, the room or facilities and inscriptions for medical personnel are arranged by prioritizing their health.
With all existing facilities and infrastructure almost complete, this emergency hospital will be used for patients infected with COVID-19 at the earliest in the afternoon, or Monday, March 23.
"I also see that the facilities and infrastructure are ready, both for patient treatment rooms, both ventilators, all ready, PPE is also ready," said Jokowi.
The government is currently preparing a contingency plan for hospital services, both designated referral hospitals, as well as mobilization of other hospitals. If needed, we will take advantage of the Kemayoran Athlete House, which has a capacity of around 15,000 units and a hotel owned by BUMN. pic.twitter.com/hHPz2SmkCf

Even though all the facilities and infrastructure are ready for use, he hopes that this emergency hospital will not be used. The context of 'not used' is about the number of patients who do not continue to increase, so that corona patients only need to be treated at a referral hospital.
"This means that the existing hospitals that we have prepared long before have been able to handle the Corona virus," he said.
Previously, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir said that in order to deal with the corona virus or COVID-19, his party would use corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from state-owned companies to procure medical devices at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran.
"CSR funds from state-owned companies will be used to procure equipment here (Wisma Atlet Kemayoran). Because these funds do not belong to BUMN," he said in a video conference, in Jakarta, Friday, March 20.
In addition, Erick explained, the social funds for state-owned companies this year will be focused on helping the community in terms of health. Because, currently the spread of COVID-19 is increasingly widespread.
Erick said, there are four towers prepared at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran. Regarding the preparations, Erick ensured that the Ministry of BUMN and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) would build from the physical side.
The four towers in question are Tower 1, Tower 3, Tower 6, and Tower 7. Erick stated that Tower 1 will be used for doctors and medical personnel. Meanwhile, Tower 3 is specifically used as a post for the handling of the corona virus.
Furthermore, the other two towers will be devoted to the treatment of COVID-19 patients, both the emergency department, ICU, and inpatient rooms.
"The inpatient room will be located in Tower 6. Later, the door will only have two sides and is locked," he explained.
