Renewable Energy Utilization MIND ID Touches 5,068 GWh Throughout 2023
JAKARTA - SOEs Holding Indonesia Mining Industry MIND ID increased energy consumption from renewable energy sources to 18.25 million Gigajoule (GJ) or the equivalent of 5,068 Gigawatt hour (GWh) of electricity throughout 2023.
MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf said the energy consumption increased by around 6.55 percent compared to the realization in 2022 of 17.12 million GJ.
"The total green energy consumption contributed about 41 percent of the total energy use of the MIND ID Group last year," he said in a statement to the media, Wednesday, June 26.
Heri said MIND ID together with all Holding Members focused on completing a number of energy diversification projects in an effort to achieve active participation in the decarbonization program.
"The MIND ID Group continues to implement various efforts to reduce carbon emissions while increasing the renewable energy mix in our operations gradually. We are consistent in realizing a mining sector that has responsible and sustainable operations," explained Heri.
Heri explained that the MIND ID Group targets to reduce emissions from the energy and Industrial Process and Product Use (IPPU) sector, including reducing its carbon footprint by 16 percent by 2030 from business-as-usual emissions.

In addition to substitution of fossil energy to renewable energy in operational activities, the MIND ID Group continues to encourage a number of new and renewable energy projects, one of which is PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) with the development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS).
Heri explained that the company also plays an important role in managing minerals and coal as the key to clean technology. All natural resources including nickel and copper are now needed by the world to make the transition to a low-carbon economy.
"Including producing electric vehicle batteries and energy storage systems," he concluded.
