BCA, BNI, And Bank Mandiri Reduce Operating Hours To Prevent COVID-19 Transmission

JAKARTA - The spread of the corona virus or COVID-19 in Indonesia is increasingly widespread. Along with the increasing number of COVID-19 positive patients, several banking companies have taken the decision to reduce their operating hours.

These companies are PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk and PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI). This step was taken as an effort to limit operational activities at branch offices to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Vice President of the Secretariat & Corporate Communication of BCA Hera F Haryn said that the limited operational policy of BCA Branch Offices throughout Indonesia will begin on March 23, 2020.

"The operational hours of BCA Branch Offices have temporarily changed to 08.15-14.00 WIB," said Hera in a written statement received by VOI, in Jakarta, Monday, March 23.

Along with BCA's digital transformation, said Hera, now customers can also make various transactions through the digital banking solutions provided, such as BCA mobile, internet banking, and other digital channels.

Not only Bank BCA, Bank BNI also chose to adjust service operating hours during the emergency response period for handling COVID-19. Since Monday 16 March, services are provided from 09.00 to 15.00 local time.

BNI Network and Service Director Adi Sulistyowati said, this service time adjustment was implemented as a form of support for government directives, to maximize physical distancing, namely reducing the length of interaction time between customers and bank officers.

Susi emphasized that BNI customer service and the public will not be disturbed and can take advantage of e-channel services such as BNIDirect for companies and BNI Mobile Baking, BNI SMS Banking and BNI Internet Banking for individual customers.

"We urge customers to use our electronic transaction facilities on various BNI e-channels," he said.

Apart from the two banks above, Bank Mandiri also applies the same thing. The operational hours of Bank Mandiri branch offices throughout Indonesia will be reduced. This decree will take effect from Monday 23 March. Starting from 08.00 to 15.00 WIB to 09.00 to 15.00 WIB.

Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary Rully Setiawan said this step was taken as a form of the company's commitment to safeguarding the safety and health of employees, customers, work partners and the general public from the spread of COVID-19.

On Monday, March 23, out of 457 Bank Mandiri branch offices operating in the DKI Jakarta area, 183 units of which will be temporarily closed. Then, on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the number of branches that will be temporarily closed will increase to 287 units.

"For these branch offices, operations will be transferred to the nearest branch office," he said.

Along with Bank Mandiri's digital transformation, continued Rully, customers can now perform various transactions through Bank Mandiri's digital banking solutions, including Mandiri Online, Mandiri Internet Business and Mandiri Cash Management for corporate customers.
