KPK: PPDB Extortion Usually Occurs When Prospective Students Don't Meet The Requirements For Acceptance
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminds the public to stay away from illegal levies (extortion) when accepting new students (PPDB). Usually, this practice occurs when there are prospective students who fail to qualify because they do not meet the requirements.
"The KPK through the 2023 Education Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) found rampant fraudulent practices in the form of bribery, extortion, and gratuities in the process of implementing PPDB," said the KPK Spokesperson Team Budi Prasetyo to reporters in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, June 25.
"Pungutan tersebut umumnya terjadi ketika ada calon pelajar yang tidak memenuhi syarat atau ketentuan penerimaan," sambungnya.
Budi reminded that the practice of extortion must be avoided by all parties. Circular Letter (SE) Number 7 of 2024 concerning Prevention of Corruption and Control of Gratification in the Implementation of PPDB must be obeyed.
"KPK hopes that through this SE it can encourage the implementation of PPDB which is objective, transparent, and accountable," he said.
The strong warnings were also given to educators and educators as well as technical education implementers not to accept gifts and ask for them. Because this has implications for corruption," said Budi.

"The process of implementing PPDB from pre-implementation, implementation and post-implementation must be in accordance with applicable regulations so that each prospective student gets the same opportunity and no party is harmed, including avoiding conflicts of interest," explained Budi.
"For this reason, regional heads through the role of inspectorates must take a more active role in increasing supervision of PPDB implementation," he concluded.
