SYL Claims To Direct Ministry Of Agriculture Employees To Give Normative Explanation When Examined By KPK

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) admitted to disclosing employees of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to provide normative information when examined by the KPK.

This confession began when the public prosecutor (JPU) questioned whether or not SYL had asked the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono, and former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery, Muhamamd Hatta, to gather Ministry of Agriculture employees.

SYL agreed and said they asked them to provide a normative explanation.

"In general, I only convey that I should not interfere with the existing work and provide a normative explanation," said SYL during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, June 24.

"Did someone convey that to Mr. Kasdi?" asked the prosecutor.

"In general. Many people, in coordination meetings if I'm not mistaken," said SYL.

SYL then explained that his request was delivered during the echelon I meeting. He claimed that his directive would not have an impact on the performance of his subordinates

"Yes. This means that although it is not formal, there is always a long table where everything is. I hope that the examination will not reduce the existing performance, and only provide a normative explanation. There is Mr. Kasdi there," said SYL.

However, SYL stated that he denied Kasdi Subagyono's statement regarding ordering Ministry of Agriculture employees not to testify in detail.

"I deny it. Nothing like that. There are no obstacles at all to enter the Ministry of Agriculture. What I ask is that they don't have to be afraid, we believe we are not wrong, therefore give normative answers," said SYL.
