Kemenkominfo Auction Again Frequency 2.3 GHz For 4G And 5G

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) has reopened the user selection / auction for the 2.3GHz frequency band, which had stalled. There are three blocks with a range of 2360-2390Mhz which can be reused for the availability of 4G and 5G networks.

"The selection for the use of the 2.3GHz frequency band for the purposes of organizing cellular mobile networks in 2020 is declared open," said Plt. Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Ferdinandus Setu, in a statement from the Ministry of Communication and Information.

The Ministry of Communication and Information also stated that one of the objectives of the selection was to increase radio frequency bands for Cellular Mobile Network Providers in order to increase the capacity of cellular mobile networks. Including encouraging the acceleration of 4G / LTE network infrastructure.

"If possible, also implement the fifth generation technology (5G / IMT-2020), and optimize the potential for Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP), especially from the Use Right Fee (BHP) of radio frequency spectrum," he added.

The auction is carried out in accordance with the provisions in Article 11 of the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 9 of 2018. This selection is open to all telecommunications operators.

The object of selection in the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band consists of 3 blocks of radio frequency bands in the range of 2,360-2,390 MHz with a band width of each block is 10 MHz. Selection participants can bid 1-3 blocks that are of interest.

"There is no limitation on the number of blocks that will be won by the selection participants, according to the selection results," he added.

Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Information had canceled the results of the 2.3 GHz frequency band user auction which was won by Telkomsel, Tri Indonesia and Smartfren. The reason at that time was that the PNBP potential that would be obtained was not optimal, so the government conducted auctions of money to make it accountable and transparent.
