Jokowi Calls Indonesian Tourism Upgrading But In ASEAN Losing To Malaysia
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Indonesia had experienced an increase in the tourism sector. Because, based on the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) Indonesia is ranked 22.
"Kita tahu di travel and tourism Development Index Indonesia naik peringkat dari peringkat 33 menjadi ke 22," ujar Jokowi saat memberikan sambutan di The Tribrata, Jakarta Selatan, Senin, 24 Juni.
However, Indonesia is still at a time with Malayasia and several other countries within the ASEAN scope. Because, from the data that was just released on May 21, Indonesia only occupies the fifth position.
"But we are still lagging behind, losing to Malaysia, with Singpur, Thailand, and the last one we lost to Vietnam. Even though we went up but we were only in fifth place in ASEAN," he said.
In fact, Jokowi assessed that the object of Indonesian tourism is no less good than other ASEAN countries.
Therefore, there must be a solution that is done to boost Indonesia to continue to increase in the tourism sector, one way to do this is by bringing in large numbers of tourists.
"The best thing is to bring in large numbers of foreign tourism," he said.
