Not Only Love, Marriage Books Are Also Made Fake Syndicate In Cilincing: Operating Since 2018 And Selling IDR 3.5 Million Per Pair
JAKARTA - Police investigators uncovered a syndicate of fake marriage book makers and sellers in the Cilincing area, North Jakarta. A total of 7 people were arrested by officers in this case.
"The syndicate network has been operating forging marriage books since 2018 and has sold hundreds of marriage books to users," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 16.
The police arrested 7 perpetrators on Thursday, February 25 in the Cilincing area, namely S (44), AH (39), BS (31), K (46), Y (44), S (56) and A (38). The evidence confiscated by the officers were 6 brown and green marriage books filled with data, 40 empty green marriage books, 40 blank red marriage books, 1000 red marriage book covers and 1850 green marriage book covers.
Based on the results of the interrogation of the perpetrators, it was found that fake marriage books were sold for IDR 3.5 million for one pair of fake marriage books.
The perpetrators also claimed to have sold 30 pairs of fake marriage books.
The officer also obtained information that the fake marriage book would be used as a requirement for legality of husband and wife status, as a condition for credit financing, making certificates, BPJS, registering with the ward chairman, renting a rented house or boarding house and others.
The perpetrators admitted that they did this because of economic pressure for their daily needs.
"The motive of the syndicated network of marriage book counterfeiters is as a means of livelihood in order to gain profit to meet their daily needs," said Yusri.
The seven perpetrators and their evidence were then taken to the North Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters for further investigation. For their actions, these seven perpetrators were charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a sentence of 6 years in prison.
