Former SOE Minister Tanri Abeng Dies In 82 Years

JAKARTA - Former Minister of SOE Empowerment Tanri Abeng passed away at 02.36 WIB, Sunday, June 23 in the morning. The body will be buried at the funeral home, Simprug Golf area, South Jakarta.

"Died last night at around two o'clock, at Medistra Hospital," said Former Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs Said Didu in his tweet on social media, Jakarta, Sunday, June 23.

Said also said that Tanri Abeng's body would be buried at his residence, Jalan Simprug Golf XIII No. 19, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

Tanri Abeng was Minister of State Empowerment of SOEs in 1998 appointed by the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia Suharto. The man from Sulawesi then continued his position as State Minister for State Empowerment of SOEs in the era of President BJ Habibie.

After becoming a minister, Tanri has served as a commissioner in state-owned companies such as being the President Commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia, President Commissioner of PT Pertamina Persero, and President Commissioner of PT Bio Farma. In 2011, Tanri founded Tanri Abeng University in South Jakarta.
