Ahead Of Lengser Next October, Jokowi Builds This Massive Infrastructure For 2015-2023

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono visited Uzbekistan on Thursday last week. On the sidelines of his visit, Basuki explained the achievements of Indonesia's infrastructure development in the 2015-2023 period.

First, in the water resource sector, Basuki said the PUPR Ministry had completed the construction of 43 dam units, 1,181,120 hectares (ha) irrigation areas, rehabilitation 4,344,317 irrigation networks, provision of 44.27 cubic meters per second of raw water, construction of 1,347 reservoir units and 2,002 kilometers (km) of flood control and coastal safety.

Then on roads and bridges, Basuki said 2,050 km of toll roads had been built, 5,833 km of new national roads, 122,492 meters (m) of bridges, 25,638 m of flyovers/underpasses and 583 suspension bridges.

"For residential areas, SPAM capacity is 33,275 liters per second, waste and sanitation management for 13.2 million family cards, handling residential areas 93,943 ha, developing 15 integrated PLBN areas and 3,443 units of infrastructure and educational facilities, sports and markets," Basuki said as quoted from the official website of the PUPR Ministry, Saturday, June 22.

Then in the housing sector, the Ministry of PUPR has built 65,235 flats, 37,516 special housing units, 1,432,278 self-help housing units and 220,656 units of infrastructure and utilities facilities.

In addition, Basuki also conveyed the progress of the development of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN). He said, there were 104 work packages for the construction of IKN in 2020-2024 with physical progress reaching 41.3 percent.

"A total of 25 packages have been completed, 61 packages are in the construction process and 18 packages are in the preparation stage or the auction process," he said.

With these various achievements, Basuki also invited Indonesian construction workers in Uzbekistan to be involved in IKN development. He said there was a lot of work available for Indonesian citizens in Uzbekistan in IKN.

"We are very welcome if anyone is interested in working at IKN. IKN development needs a lot of people, there are still many work packages that will be auctioned," he concluded.
