Inspired By Ronda Rousey, Glorinha Leaves The Modeling World To Get Involved In UFC
JAKARTA - Gloria 'Glorinha' de Paula decided to quit modeling to pursue a career in the world of free combat. However, in his UFC debut, Glorinha suffered a defeat.
The beautiful 25-year-old Brazilian model lost to Korean-American fighter Jinh Yu Frey (35). Glorinha lost by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 187 in Enterprise, Nevada, USA, on March 13 yesterday.
Despite the defeat, Glorinha assured that she is happy with the move in her career. After all, he decided to make his living in the octagon and not in front of the camera lens anymore.
The photographer's daughter, Glorinha has been working as a model since she was a child. However, he quickly discovered his passion for fighting when he was 17 and took Muay Thai classes to stay in shape.
"I fell in love with Muay Thai so much that I decided to make a living from fighting," Glorinha told Brazilian media.
"My coach advised me to move to MMA because I would have more opportunities. That's what I did."
Glorinha said a major turning point for her was when she personally saw Ronda Rousey beat Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds at UFC 190 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in August 2015.
"MMA 'exploded' because of him. I thought I arrived at the right time," he said.
Glorinha's first professional fight took place in July 2017, when she defeated her opponent Thuany Valentim Fernandes by TKO (punch) at Batalha MMA 8.
After defeating Pauline Macias by unanimous decision, she was hired by UFC in a reality show owned by the President of the UFC Dana White Contender Series.
To date, he has a record of five wins, three defeats and no draws including his most recent fight in his UFC debut
