Cool, Minari Made History With 6 Oscar Nominations

JAKARTA - The film Minari from A24 made a new history with six Oscar nominations. Announced on Tuesday, March 15th, US time, this Lee Isaac Chung-directed film received the spotlight for the film and its cast.

Minari tells of a South Korean family who started a new life on the outskirts of America in 1980.

The nominations received were Best Picture, Steven Yeun for Best Actor, Youn Yuh Jung for Best Supporting Actress, Lee Isaac Chung for Best Director, Lee Isaac Chung for Best Original Screenplay, and Emile Mosseri for Best Original Score.

Steven Yeun became the first Asian American actor to receive this nomination while Youn Yuh Jung became the first Korean actress to win the individual category.

Minari itself has won Best Motion Picture in the 87th Golden Globes. So far, Minari has won 91 award trophies.

Competing with Minari, there are The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and others.

The winners of the 93rd Academy Awards will be announced on April 25th.
