Prosecutor: Rizieq Shihab Running From The Criminal Investigation Room

JAKARTA - The public prosecutor (JPU) said the defendant in the UMMI Hospital swab test case, Rizieq Shihab, ran from The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police room after rejecting an online trial.

"The panel's provisional information shows that the suspect has fled from the courtroom", said the prosecutor at the trial at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, March 16.

Chief judge Khadwanto also replied to the prosecutor's answer by saying they had been negligent. This is because the defendant Rizieq Shihab could easily leave the court location.

"Negligent? Who is negligent?", asked Khadwanto

"Run, run and officers do not anticipate", replied the prosecutor.

Judge Khadwanto warned prosecutors of this matter. Rizieq Shihab's walkout action delayed the trial.

"Warning from the panel, if an act like this, the trial wouldn't proceed", he said.

Currently, the public prosecutor is coordinating with The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. Officers from the Attorney General's Office are also trying to bring Rizieq Shihab back.

The panel of judges decided the trial was suspended for 30 minutes. If Rizieq Shihab cannot be present in the room, the judge will postpone the trial for reading the charges.
