Rizieq Shihab Walkout, Judge: If The Defendant Was Delightful Without Permit There Has Never Been An Ongoing Trial
JAKARTA - Rizieq Shihab walked out or left the room at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit when the judge decided that the trial regarding the Bogor UMMI Hospital was to be continued. The panel of judges was surprised that Rizieq Shihab left the room without permission.
"There is already trial management, the defendant may not leave the courtroom seat without the panel's permission. Yes, if the defendant without permission casually leaves, there has never been an ongoing trial. It can't be like that", said Chief Judge Khadwanto at Rizieq Shihab's trial at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, March 15.
Rizieq Shihab and his lawyer, from the beginning of the trial, had rejected the virtual trial. Rizieq Shihab attended the trial from The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. Meanwhile, judges, prosecutors, and lawyers are in the East Jakarta District Court.
"Why was the defendant not there? Please answer it the same as the court here. Can he go? can't, but he left right away. So this must be understood, the analogy is the same as this trial, ”said the judge.
Currently, the public prosecutor is coordinating with The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. Officers from the Attorney General's Office are also trying to bring Rizieq Shihab back.
The panel of judges decided the trial was suspended for 30 minutes. If Rizieq Shihab cannot be present in the room, the judge will postpone the trial for reading the charges.
