Asking To Be Presented At Court, Rizieq Shihab Touches The Session Of Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte

JAKARTA - Former Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) frontman Habib Rizieq Shihab insisted on being presented to the courtroom at the East Jakarta District Court during the trial of the indictment.

The inaugural trial was conducted virtually. Rizieq Shihab was not presented at the East Jakarta District Court, but at the National Police Headquarters.

Rizieq conveyed several reasons why he insisted on being presented at the trial. According to him, the trial was virtually ineffective.

"Online is not clear, it only depends on the signal. Online is very detrimental to me," said Rizieq Shihab to the panel of judges, Tuesday, March 16.

Then, he said, if the trial was held virtually on the grounds of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rizieq Shihab suggested that the trial be conducted in compliance with health protocols.

"For the reason Covid, strictly follow the health protocol," said Rizieq.

According to him, this virtual trial was very detrimental to him who was looking for justice. He also hoped that the panel of judges could present himself in court.

"The fact is that there were several figures at the hearing such as Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte, this is discrimination. In fact I am at the National Police Headquarters, I want to be in the courtroom," said Rizieq.

Regardless, said Rizieq, the trial of his case is currently receiving attention from a number of parties. My trial is not a random trial and is in the national and international spotlight. We will stop the debate, hopefully the panel of judges can make a wise and wise decision. This whole world is taking our turn, "said Rizieq.
