Austria Vs France: 0-1, Wober's Suicide Goal Help Les Bleus Superior
JAKARTA - In the exciting Group D which took place in D\"usseldorf, France managed to beat Austria 1-0 thanks to Maximilian Wober's own goal. The match on Monday 17 June or Tuesday morning WIB was colored with various interesting moments and a tight battle between the two teams.
The match started at a high tempo when Austria tried to take the initiative to attack from the left, but their efforts were quickly broken by French goalkeeper Mike Maignan. In the seventh minute, France made a quick counter-attack through Lucas Hernandez who provided bait to Kylian Mbappe. Unfortunately, Mbappe's shot only hit the Austrian side of the net.
The referee often blew the whistle at the start of the game, causing the game to be a bit hampered. In the 16th minute, Dembele did a drift from the right and got a hard tackle from Wober, who was then rewarded with a yellow card. Austria continues to press, especially through Laimer and Baumgartner. In the 75th minute, there was a violent clash between Baumgartner and Maignan which caused both of them to fall. Austria is increasingly trying to find equaliser goals, but the French defense remains solid.
Towards the end of the match, Laimer committed a foul on Mbappe. Despite several dangerous moments, France managed to maintain their lead until the final whistle sounded.
With this victory, France managed to secure three important points on their journey in this tournament. Although Austria showed strong resistance, Wober's own goal became a differentiator in the match which was tight and full of these tense moments.
