Hendra/Ahsan Proud To Win Runner-Up At The 2024 Australian Open
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan admitted that they were still proud to bring home the runner-up title at the BWF Super 500 Australian Open 2024 tournament, Sunday, June 16.
"The positive thing about our performance in the final, we can still feel proud. At this age we can still go up to the podium even as runners-up. Still have to say thank God," said Ahsan, quoted from a short statement from PP PBSI.
The couple who is familiarly called The Daddies had to lose to the first seeded pair from China He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu in the final round through two straight games, 11-21, 10-21.
Hendra/Ahsan admitted that the opponent's performance was much better when compared to the condition of those who were already in their late age, 30 years.
"Thank God we were able to be in the final even though we lost the result. For the game, we lost everything. Especially we lost at the energy. We also lost at speed," said Ahsan.
"It must be admitted that the opponent is superior in speed and power. They are now also safer in playing," he said.
