Rui Patricio Suffers Injury After Hitting Conor Coady's Knee, Klopp: Worrying, We Wish Him All The Best

JAKARTA - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wishes Wolverhampton goalkeeper Rui Patricio a speedy recovery after suffering a frightening injury during the meeting of the two teams in Molineux, England, Tuesday morning.

"We wish him all the best. Terrible situation, although to be honest I didn't see the incident firsthand," Klopp said after the match quoted by Antara from Liverpool's official website.

"I only saw the impact, because I saw our goal disallowed and then was surprised to see the opposing goalkeeper lying down," he added.

Patricio collapsed in front of goal three minutes from normal time after being involved in an incidental blow to the knee of his team captain Conor Coady.

The medical team spent more than 10 minutes treating Patricio on the pitch, before the Portuguese goalkeeper was stretched out of the field with an inhaler.

Wolverhampton, who previously used their three substitution slots, get one special slot according to the protocol for treating symptoms of concussion enforced by the English Premier League.

"I don't know how long it will take, but the longer the medical treatment on the pitch goes on, the more worrying it is," said Klopp.

"We wish him the best, he will recover soon and hopefully he will be well again," he concluded.

This is the injury related to the second concussion suffered by a Wolverhampton player, after Raul Jimenez collapsed last November following a head clash with Arsenal defender David Luiz.

Raul Jimenez has yet to return to grazing despite his successful skull surgery.

As for the match, Diogo Jota led Liverpool to win 1-0 through his only goal. The victory kept Liverpool's hopes of catching up to the top four of the standings.

Jurgen Klopp's team temporarily climbed to sixth with a collection of 46 points, only five points behind the top four. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton (35), who failed to break out of their winning streak for four matches in a row, are stuck at 13th.
