Absent From First Summons, KPK Reschedules Coal Boss Said Amin's Examination
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata confirmed that the boss of a coal mine, Said Amin, would be recalled after being absent from summons as a witness in the case of gratification and money laundering of former Kutai Kertanegara Regent Rita Widyasari.
This was conveyed by Alexander in response to Said who did not answer the summons on Monday, June 10. Investigators did not receive any information regarding the absence.
"Recall again," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted on Thursday, June 13.
Alexander said he had not received any reports from investigators regarding the information being pursued by Amin. However, he believes the mining boss's statement is needed.
Moreover, Rita's mode of receiving gratuities is to receive money from mining entrepreneurs. "That's the method," he said.
"The method is that in receiving gratuities, it is suspected that the former regent (Rita Widyasari, ed) received a certain fee per ton or per barge from the mined one," explained Alexander.
As previously reported, Rita Widyasari was named a suspect along with Commissioner of PT Media Bangun Bersama, Khairudin on January 16, 2018. Both are suspected of washing money from the results of project and licensing gratuities at the Kutai Kertanegara Provincial Government worth Rp436 billion.
In this case, hundreds of vehicles consisting of cars and motorbikes up to billions of rupiah have been confiscated by investigators from searches in Jakarta, Samarinda City to Kutai Kertanegara Regency.
In detail, there are 72 cars and 32 motorbikes; land and buildings in six locations; and money in rupiah denominations amounting to Rp6.7 billion and Rp2 billion in US dollar denominations and others.
