KADIN: Gotong Royong Vaccination Cannot Be Commercialized

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Rosan Roeslani explained the results of the meeting with President Joko Widodo and the National Economic Recovery Committee regarding the independent Gotong Royong Vaccination program.

From that meeting, according to him, Jokowi wanted to accelerate the vaccination of masterminds for herd immunity. Therefore, at the meeting, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) suggested running the independent vaccination program again.

It is hoped that faster herd immunity will have a positive impact on the health sector and economic recovery.

Rosan said that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) was asked by Jokowi to discuss this proposal with both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises under the National Recovery Committee. His party has also presented the vaccination program.

"The spirit is that the independent or Gotong Royong Vaccination program should not be commercialized," Ruslan said at a hearing at the House of Representatives Commission IX, Senayan, Monday, March 15.

Second, continued Ruslan, the spirit that was built was free vaccines. Where the recipient is still free of charge on the condition that the companies do the payment to be given to workers, laborers, and employees.

"So even though on the way the company proposed whether it was permissible, especially mining companies, the proposal was given to the communities around the mine who are affected by its operations. We also convey that," he continued.

Rosan admitted, this program did not burden the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) at all because currently companies and industries had also implemented health protocols.

"Every two weeks we hold antigen swabs for employees. Therefore, we see that if we participate in the Gotong Royong vaccination program, it will actually be more cost-efficient for the business sector," said Rosan.

In addition, by participating in the vaccination program, it is hoped that worker productivity will improve because they feel safe and comfortable. Of course, said Rosan, it will also have a positive impact on the health sector and the economic recovery sector.

In addition, the results of communication between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the National Recovery Committee and the Minister of Health as well as the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, his party also started to collect data and register for companies from January 28 to February 28.

"In the first phase, there were 9,176 companies registered with a total of 6,998,235 vaccination participants including employees and their families," explained Rosan.

Then stage II, he continued, was held on March 10 to March 24, where there was an addition of 2,372 companies. So that the total number of companies that have registered is 11,542 with a total target recipient of the vaccination of 7,403,356

"And this is still ongoing. The list is not only big companies, even MSMEs has quite a lot to register. This is certainly a positive thing," he said.
