Meeting The Deputy PM Of Singapore, Airlangga Encourages Increasing Strategic Cooperation
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto held a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and all Heads of the Working Group before the 14th Singapore Six Bilateral Economic Working Groups (MM 6WG) meeting in Singapore.
Meanwhile, the increase in economic cooperation between the two countries driven through the 6WG Forum includes increased cooperation in the Batam, Bintan, Karimun (BBK) and other SEZs, investment fields, transportation sectors, labor fields, agribusiness fields, and the tourism sector.
In a bilateral meeting that discussed strategic economic issues for the two countries, Airlangga appreciated and expressed his gratitude to Deputy PM Gan Kim Yong for facilitating the hard work of working groups in ensuring the success of cooperation.
In addition, Airlangga hopes that meaningful progress from each working group will be made to be reported in the Leaders Retreat in the near future.
"With the geographical closeness between BBK and Singapore as a driving force for cooperation, ease of mobility for investors is a key element and we continue to improve regulations related to visas," said Airlangga in his statement, Friday, June 7.
In addition, in the employment sector, Airlangga mentioned that Tech: X Pilot of the Tech: X Program had launched at the Indonesia-Singapore Leaders Retreat in Bogor on April 29, 2024.

Airlangga conveyed that the Tech:X Program provides opportunities for young professionals in the field of technology from Singapore and Indonesia to gain 1 year of work experience in their respective technology industries.
"We look forward to the first generation of young technology talents from Indonesia and Singapore to develop digital knowledge skills and meet the supply and demand of human resources in today's digital era," said Airlangga.
Furthermore, Airlangga and Gan Kim Yong also discussed several other things, especially those related to increasing the ease of mobility of investors from Singapore, strengthening air connectivity, and cooperation in the tourism sector.
