Perpetrators Of Step-Child And Sister-in-Law Abuse In Rejang Lebong Bengkulu Arrested
REJANG LEBONG - The police arrested an alleged perpetrator of sexual abuse of his stepchild and sister-in-law in Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu.
Head of The Criminal Investigation Unit Rejang Lebong, AKP Rahmat Hadi Fitrianto said the suspect arrested was Ma (52), a resident of Curup District. Meanwhile, the victims were stepchildren and sister-in-law, both of which were 7 years old.
"The Ma suspect was arrested by the Coba team, which is a combination of Rejang Lebong police officers and intelligence officers at his house on Saturday, March 13 at around 23.00 WIB", he was quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 14.
AKBP Rahmat said the suspect Ma was reported by his wife to the Rejang Lebong Police Headquarters on Thursday, March 11. From that report, the police conducted an investigation and arrested the suspect.
"The two children of the victim did not have the courage to report what they experienced because the suspect threatened to hit them if they reported it to other people, including the mother. We have secured the suspect and are still being investigated by the investigating officers", he explained.
Also, the police have developed a case of underage sexual intercourse involving a village youth as the perpetrator and the victim is a vocational school student.
The suspect with the initials Ba was arrested by Rejang Lebong Police, assisted by Sindang Dataran Police, Thursday, March 11.
"The suspect is currently still being investigated by PPA investigating officers", said AKBP Rahmat.
Ma was charged with Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 of Law Number 35 of 2014, concerning Child Protection with the threat of a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
