8 Motorcycle Thieves In Action With Toy Guns In Cianjur Arrested

CIANJUR - The police have arrested eight perpetrators of motor vehicle theft who often act in the Cianjur area, West Java. These thieves use toy firearms to frighten their victims.

The Head of Cianjur Police, AKBP Mochamad Rifai, said that the 8 thieves who were arrested with the initials I, F, D, H, U, AS, B and K. They were arrested during the Vehicle Crime Operation.

"The perpetrators were arrested in a number of hiding places without resistance. Officers managed to secure 10 units of two-wheeled motorized vehicles, several sharp weapons, dozens of T-leter keys and a match-type firearm," he said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 14.

The police initially received reports of residents who had lost their motorbikes in the yard of the house, in the public parking lot. There are also victims of robbery who report to the police.

From this report, the police team moved and arrested the perpetrators. The perpetrators often pointed their toy guns in action.

"The perpetrator will be charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code on theft and violence and Article 481 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of 9 years in prison," said AKBP Rifai.

The high number of thefts in the past month has become a concern of the police. AKBP Rifai appealed to residents to be more careful when parking their vehicles by installing a double lock and remaining under surveillance.

"We urge residents to jointly maintain the safety and comfort of their respective environments, not to let criminals take action," said AKBP Rifai.
