Accidental Cyclists At The HI Roundabout Become A Suspect, Threatened With 5 Years In Prison And A Fine Of Rp. 10 Million
JAKARTA - The perpetrator who allegedly hit the peseda at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout on Friday, March 12, with the initials DA (19), has been arrested.
The perpetrator, who used a black Mercedes Benz car, was secured at his home in Bintaro, South Tangerang. Now DA is a suspect and detained for the first 20 days.
"The person concerned has become a suspect and we have already detained him," said Director of Traffic of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, Saturday, March 13.
DA said Sambo was charged with Article 310 paragraph 3 of Law Number 22 Year 2019 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. He also faces up to five years in prison and a fine of IDR 10 million.
Where in Article 310 paragraph (3) of the LLAJ Law: Every person driving a Motor Vehicle which due to negligence results in a Traffic Accident with the victim seriously injured as referred to in Article 229 paragraph (4), shall be punished with imprisonment of 5 (five) years and / or a maximum fine of Rp.10,000,000.00 (ten million rupiah).
Sambo said that the car the perpetrator was using had also been detained. "Vehicles suspected of being involved in traffic accidents were also confiscated last night," he added.
Previously, the collision incident between a black Marcedes Bens and a cyclist that occurred at the HI Roundabout on Friday morning at 6:37 a.m. WIB was recorded by CCTV cameras and went viral on social media.
At that time the victim was passing through the HI Roundabout and was hit by the perpetrator's car with police number B 1728 SAQ until he was unconscious. According to witness testimony, after hitting the victim the perpetrator immediately fled.
