Amman Mineral Announces Smelter Project Entering Commissioning Stage
JAKARTA - The copper smelter project of PT Amman Mineral Industri (AMIN), a subsidiary of PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMAN), located in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province has entered the commissioning stage.
AMIN's President Director, Rachmat Makkasau said that the start of the commissioning stage was proof that AMMAN's copper smelter's physical construction had gone according to plan.
All equipment that is a key part of the smelter operation has been installed. In parallel, we have also carried out commissioning of various supporting infrastructures, including the Air Separation Unit, which is an important facility to ensure the supply of oxygen and nitrogen gas to the main smelter facility continuously without interruption, "explained Rachmat, quoted Tuesday, May 4.
Rachmat said, AMIN has also succeeded in completing the commissioning of the new desalination and demineralization water (DDW) clean water supply facility, which uses state-of-the-art sea water reverse osmosis membrane technology for water supply at smelter facilities.
"The commissioning process as a whole has also begun to be carried out in all facilities in the smelter complex," he continued.
According to Rachmat, various efforts to accelerate the smelter construction have been carried out by the AMIN team and contractors from China, namely China Non-ferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd (NFC) and PT Logistics Industry Development (PT PIL).
Based on NFC records, the AMMAN smelter project will be the fastest-built double-flash melting facility in the world, outside China.

The results of the verification of the report on the physical progress of the smelter made by independent parties concluded that development progress until April 30, 2024 had reached 92.301 percent. The verification of the physical progress of the smelter until the end of May 2024 will be carried out in June.
The plan is for the copper concentrate to enter the smelter facility to produce the first batch of copper cathodes in the second half of 2024.
Meanwhile, the majority of team members who will work in the smelter operational department have completed a shop floor smelter training program at various copper smelter facilities in China since the last quarter of 2023.
