Encourage Local Gaming Industry, World Cyber Games 2024 Will Be Present In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Indonesia as the largest game market in Southeast Asia hosts the World Cyber Games (WCG), the largest multi-game festival in the world that has existed since 2001.
The series of WCG activities involving 111 countries, 76 games, and 1.5 million gamers from all over the world were held in various countries in Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea, with the peak of the festival in Indonesia on August 31, September 1, 2024 at ICE BSD Tangerang.
The event, which is part of the Creative Economy Business Forum program, is also a form of effort by game industry players in Indonesia to support the realization of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No.19 which contains to accelerate the development of the National game industry.
"Hopefully this can be the best means of promoting games between countries, and can inspire one another," said Liz Zeny Merry - Plt. Assistant Deputy for Creative Economy Development, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries at a press conference held on Tuesday, June 4 in Jakarta.
The series of events for the Creative Economy Business Forum which started the WCG Festival will be attended by various content industry stakeholders from various countries and 100 top influencers from Southeast Asia and South Korea who will attend the 2024 World Cyber Games Festival.

For the activation and appreciation of national games at the regional level, influencers from abroad are invited to play and promote Indonesian-made games. Lokana, an Indonesian-made game will become one of the official games in this prestigious event.
The Creative Economy Committee and Chairman of the CAKRA Association, Ivan Chen said that this is a golden opportunity to encourage local game developers to be able to activate in Southeast Asia.
Participation of local games at the 2024 WCG festival with its new concept is also expected to encourage access to local game markets in Southeast Asia and globally.
