Regarding The Possibility Of Increased Electricity Tariffs After June, This Is What The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Said
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Director General of Electricity Jisman P Hutajulu has opened its voice regarding the possibility that the government will adjust the electricity tariff after June 2024.
Just so you know, the government has decided to withhold electricity rates since February 2024.
Jisman said he could not announce the certainty of electricity rates in the third quarter of 2024.
"It can't be answered yet. Just wait for it later," said Jisman to the media quoted on Tuesday, June 4.
However, he ensured that the electricity tariffs until this month did not change. This is in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo which limits fuel prices and electricity rates until June 2024.
"In June, there has been no increase until June," explained Jisman.
On the same occasion, Jisman also denied the rumors of an increase in electricity rates for middle and upper class customers. Jisman said that this had not been decided so he could not provide an answer.
"Ah, not yet. It has not been decided," concluded Jisman.
Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto decided not to adjust the electricity and fuel rates until June 2024.

According to him, the decision not to increase electricity and fuel rates has been agreed in a cabinet meeting on Monday, February 26, led by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"Earlier it was decided in the plenary cabinet session, there was no increase in electricity, no increase in fuel to juni, be it subsidies and non-subsidies," he told the media crew, Monday, February 26.
Airlangga said that because there was no tariff increase, the government needed to spend additional budgets for PT PLN (Persero) and PT Pertamina (Persero) from excess budget (SAL) and also widening the 2024 APBN deficit.
