Kapolresta Malang Will Be Asked For Information About The Command To Shoot Papuan Students

JAKARTA - The National Police's Division of Professional and Security (Propam) will start an investigation into allegations of hate speech and SARA involving Papuan students in Malang. In the investigation, the Head of Malang Police, Kombes Leonardus Harapanantua Simarmata, will soon be questioned.

"The move by the Propam Division will begin to carry out investigations and clarification of related parties, both from the reporter and the alleged offender," said Head of Propam Polri Inspector General Ferdy Sambo in his statement, Saturday, March 13.

Apart from the investigation process, Ferdy emphasized that the investigation of this case prioritizes transparency. In addition, this case will also be thoroughly investigated.

"The Police Propam will be objective and transparent in processing and following up on any reports of public complaints regarding the behavior of Polri members in carrying out their duties," he said.

Meanwhile, this case regarding the racial statement of the Malang Police Chief began when Papuan students staged an action in front of the Malang Police to ask their arrested colleagues to be released.

Several Papuan students were arrested by the police while holding an International Women's Day demonstration, on Monday, March 8. This activity is a Women's Solidarity Movement with the People that voices the issue of women and the rejection of special autonomy (autonomy).

The statement of Kombes Leonardus which was considered racial was ordering his members to shoot the students if they broke into the Malang Police.

"Shoot, shoot, shoot dead. If the door is smashed, shoot. Their blood is lawful," Michael said, imitating the Police Chief's statement.
