Police Arrest 4 Members Of The Motorbike Thief Syndicate In Tebet, Their Money Makes Life And Spree

JAKARTA - Police have arrested four perpetrators of motorcycle theft. Two of them are custodians.

"They have committed thefts of motorbike specialists 15 times in the Tebet jurisdiction," said Tebet Police Chief, Kompol Budi Cahyono, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 12.

The theft was carried out between 2020 and March 3, 2021.

There were also four perpetrators with the initials SN and MR who committed theft and AT and AR as custodians.

The arrest of the perpetrators was revealed after the suspect SN was previously arrested for stealing helmets by residents and police who were patrolling South Manggarai.

After being searched, the suspect was found to have a T key and a lighter that was modified like a firearm.

During the investigation, the suspect admitted to having stolen a motorcycle at Jalan Kasablanka 1, Menteng Dalam, Tebet, South Jakarta.

From that statement, the police finally found the fact that the perpetrator was stealing along with MR, while the custodians were AT and AR.

In carrying out the action, the suspect stole a motorbike using the T key with the target of boarding houses and motorbikes on the side of the road.

The four perpetrators, said Kompol Budi, were residents of North Manggarai and South Manggarai, Tebet, South Jakarta.

Apart from arresting the four suspects, the police also secured three stolen motorbikes.

On average, the stolen motorbikes, he continued, were sold at a price of Rp. 1.5 million to Rp. 2 million to meet the necessities of life and leisure.

"They are unemployed," he said.

The four suspects charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code related to theft carry a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
