Dozens Of Papuan Taruna Students Experience Violence From Dormitory Assistants, Dozens Of Students Harassed
TIMIKA - Approximately 25 students of the Papuan Taruna Boarding School Pattern in Timika, Papua, reportedly experienced acts of violence and sexual harassment by an unscrupulous boarder.
Kasat Reskrim Mimika Police, AKP Hermanto said, cases of violence and sexual harassment that befell dozens of Papuan Taruna School students took place from November 2020 to March 9.
"There were 12 victims who experienced violence, while 13 victims experienced harassment," said Hermanto as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 12.
The case was only revealed after a six-year-old student with the initials reported to the boarder and headmaster of the Taruna Papua school.
"It happened on Tuesday (9/3) at around 22.30 WIT located in the Boys Dormitory, Markus Room, Papua Taruna School Complex, Wonosari Jaya Village, Timika," said Hermanto.
The chronology of the incident, after the night service, the victim lay on the bed. Then DF (30) as the coach of the male dormitory called the victim and sexually harassed him.
"If I reported to Mr. Andi, I beat him," said DF when threatening the victim.
DF acts of violence not only happened to male students in the male dormitory of Taruna Papua School, but also experienced by a student at the school.
For his lecherous act, DF is threatened with imprisonment as regulated in Article 82 paragraph (1) of Law Number 17/2016.
DF has been detained at the Mimika Police after being arrested at his family's home, Thursday, March 11.
The management of the Papuan Taruna Boarding School cannot be asked for their response regarding cases of violence and sexual harassment that befell dozens of their students.
