Export Of Nontambang Commodities In North Maluku Reaches IDR 43.3 Billion
JAKARTA - The Ternate Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC), North Maluku noted that exports of non-mining commodities in the province until April 2024 reached 2.759 million US dollars (US) or equivalent to Rp43.3 billion.
"This figure is recorded to have increased compared to the same period in 2023, the value of non-mining exports is much higher than in 2023," said Ternate Zulhendrizal, Head of the Treasury Section of the Supervision and Service Office of Customs and Excise (KPPBC), quoted from ANTARA, Friday, May 31.
According to Zulhendrizal, non-mining commodities exported during that period included wood pellets (Wood Pellets) of US$1.4 million.
Then, tuna frozen 1.1 million US dollars, mangrove crabs live 105.3 thousand US dollars and shrimp eggs 2.5 thousand US dollars.
Meanwhile, from the export details, wood pellets are the largest export contributors, which when converted into more than IDR 24 billion.
"The high factor for non-mining exports compared to last year was due to the first export of wood pellets in early March 2024," he said.
The export of this wood pellet comes from Mangolu Island which was exported through the port of the Sula Islands in March 2024 with a country bound for Japan.
He added that wood pellets themselves are renewable fuel that is environmentally friendly.
This commodity is widely used in developed countries, especially countries that have four seasons.
Meanwhile, in a separate place from the North Maluku Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center (BKHIT), facilitating the export of 25 tons of frozen tuna from Morotai Island to Vietnam through the Morotai Sea Port Service Unit.

The head of the North Maluku Quarantine, Willy Indra Yunan, said that the delivery of this frozen cashless commodity was routinely carried out and during January to March 2024 as many as 102.81 tons of frozen tuna loin had been successfully exported to Vietnam.
"Of course, this marks the significant contribution of North Maluku in international trade with an export value of Rp124 billion," said Willy.
Frozen loin tuna is a tuna that goes through a selective process from freezing, washing, cutting the head and disposal of the skin and bones and fractures, becoming the prima donna in international trade.
